"It's the season" for more than celebrating Christ's birthday.
The best I have done for a cold is:
rest, lots of fluids
citrus
take Vitamin C with Zinc. It's EXTREMELY important to take BOTH C AND Zinc. Not one or the other.
chicken soup (broth or noodle soup)
I'd actually recommend that you take at LEAST a gram of C at a time, like 3-5 times a day, AND C with Zinc (BOTH)
Don't neglect the citrus, don't neglect the chicken soup.
Stay WARM.
treat the symptoms.
do as much steam inhaling as you can do without burning yourself. That is, boil a pot full of water, and stand over it and inhale the steam-- at a safe distance. Do NOT -- do NOT -- burn yourself. (steam burns are NASTY)

Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas!

Christmas day relates to a holiday, therefore you now have given yourself permission to relax and so sickness ensues. You say you drank water because you have a sore throat and inevitably a runny nose etc. This is a pattern that is repeated everytime you get sick.
Try this: Sit and look at a chair across the room... imagine the chair is becoming filled with steam... make this steam in this chair take the feelings from your head and cold and runny nose, feel your cold and runy nose forming in this chair... watch it evaporate into the air! Do this thoroughy and believe it is occurring.
Then, go for a good hard walk and when you finish, eat lots of food listening to music you like to hear when you are busy! This will take you maybe 90 minutes.

I keep a little spray bottle of Herbs for Kids, Super Kids Throat Spray. It's got a red bar that says Throat Spray. It's a blend of Echinacea purpurea root, Rose Hips, Licorice Root, & Thyme leaf. You have to use it when you first notice the sore throat or else it won't be as effective (that's why I keep it on hand).
There's also Traditional Medicinals, Organic Lemon Echinacea Throat Coat that supports Throat Health. It's a caffeine free herbal tea. Don't use tap water or bottled water - Pure water only.

yes zicam is a good product but there is sometimes a side effect...if you use the zinc nasal spray it can actually destroy your sense of smell. another option is to try the 'airborne'. it is like an alkaseltzer in that you dissolve the tablet in water and it gets all fizzy and it tastes weird. but it is full of all kinds of healthy things to boost the immune system. they also sell something called emergen-C which is something similar only its a powder instead of a tablet and it doesn't taste as weird as the airborn. in the meantime drink lots of liquids. if your throat still hurts drink something hot like tea. breathing in the steam will help open your nose up some and its good for a sore throat. as far as medicine if you can't really kick it in the butt i recommend trying tylenol cold quick release gels. they work faster than any other one i know of for helping ease the symptoms. i hope you get to feeling better! happy holidays!!

I hope it's just a cold. The flu is much worse. You pretty much have to let it run its course, but you can speed it up (or better put not slow it down). It's common sense stuff. Get plenty of rest, drink lots of fluids, take Vitamin C. Sorry you are sick. I can't stand being sick. Hope you get well soon.

No, but you can feel the best you can by taking aspirin or Excedrin every 4 hours to get through the day.

Drink a lot of warm clear drinks (no dairy it makes a cold worse by thickening the mucus.)

Good luck and do your best to have a pleasant day.

Okay, okay, I got the answer!

Dude, if your trying to get rid of it you need lots of rest.

The flu lasts about one full week. You need to eat even if you don't want to. I suggest lots of liquids soup, hater aid (gator aid), and plenty of water.

Did I say lots of rest!?!

Anyway if it dosent go away, see a doctor!

Oh yes, you might need some penicillin and tylenol. Maybe some thur a flu, cold to make it threw the week.

Hopefully you can. It stinks huh? Just keep doing what you are and get plenty of sleep. Sleep is actually the best!
Yes. You will have to let it run its course. Sow down and take it easy if possible.

Go buy some antihistamine to dry up your sinuses so all that drainage that is giving you a sore throat doesn't get down in your lungs and make you really sick!
