This is old news and the record was probably beaten since September, but I wasn't on Answers when all the fuss happened. You should have seen the TV reports, Islamic clerics protesting and judging those who participated, calling such an act immoral and so on. It was disgusting to watch the news to be honest.

My country went through a war during the early '90s and I personally think it's WONDERFUL if for a change we make the headlines that have something to do with spreading love and positive energy.

Your opinions, please. And Merry Christmas to all those celebrating :)

@me - First of all, I'm not here to bash Islam, I'm stating the fact - this really happened. Those very clerics of Islam who protested this act also organized a big nasheed concert earlier in July and their main sponsor was Sarajevo Brewery. How Islamic is that?

This has nothing to do with Bosnian Muslims being secular or not, this is not an Islamic state and it never will be. Separation of mosque and state in this case.

I think that the simultaneous kissing was nice. I was in Bosnia in a peace mission and broke my heart to see so many people suffering.

Churches have no right to complaint about the simultaneous kissing in Bosnia nor anywhere else in the world.

Maybe we should start a "kissing marathon" in Yahoo Answers.

Thank you for your post - we nearly missed an oppurtunity to bash Islam and Muslims

It shows how secular Bosnian Muslims really are - yet they were subjected to genocide just for having Muslim names

The message this sends to Muslims, much like Turkey wishing to get into the EU, is powerful: even if you conform you will be hated - so why bother conforming?

my pet theory is that globalization will wipe out muslim extremism.

Like it or not, people around the world will have McDonalds, whether they want it or not. (McDonalds as analogy)

Over time I think people will abandon the mullahs and strict interpretation and ruthless application of law.

I think that people would abandon a religion which punishes a rape victim and condones the perpetrators.

So many other disgusting practices should be abandoned- cutting off of hands as a price for theft, even burkas should be optional, if not outlawed, etc.

(btw why is it that lust-consumed arab men can't control themselves, therefore women must be hidden?? And since when is rape considered a just punishment?? -that's one sick religion!)

The idea of kissing in public shouldn't even register as an offense, in comparison to most other atrocities that are accepted as culture.

i think it is wonderful that so many people found such an easy way to have so much fun.

and i think it is even better that there were people so mean-spirited that they missed out. (that would have made it all the more fun for the participants).

I think it's a great idea, if the islamic community disagrrees
then tell them not to participate, and as for respecting their religion screw them, they are not respecting others desire to do what they wish when they apply their morals to others.
