He asked me on the 4 year anniversary of the day we first met. (we had been chatting on the net for 3 months and decided to finally meet in person) he asked me in the exact spot on the beach where we first met. He asked without the ring then we went ring shopping afterwards.
In our four years together, we started with a distance relationship, eventually we both moved halfway so we were closer to each other. After 2 years together we decided to buy land together and build a home. We have lived together in our home now for about 18months and are planning our wedding in our backyard by the pool in July 2008. ;-)

We were friends for a year, then dated for a year and a half before he proposed. And we will have been engaged for about 14 months when we get married. We think it's pretty special that we had that year of being just platonic-it makes us laugh how we never saw it coming-that one day we would fall in love...seems that everyone around us saw it happening, though we were unaware.

My now husband and I were together for a year and a half before he finally proposed. We'd been living together for a year though. I honestly thought it would never happen (even though 1.5 yrs isn't that long to wait).

I'm answering in the middle of cooking christmas dinner. My sweetie proposed after just a couple of months. We have been married almost 7 years, and we have 3 kids. :) I hope this helps.

I was dating someone else seriously that first year after we met... BUT am so glad I waited for my husband!
