Hope not cos Ive got SKY and cant afford a new tv ~we shall see :o)

No. The digital reciever can be plugged into any TV with a SCART (rectangluar port, lots of holes).
There isn't really such a thing as a 'digital ready' tv. What you may be thinking of are TVs with an in-built digital receiver. And since SKY are providing you a receiver, you don't need one in-built to the TV.

As long as the box you use can convert digital signals for your analog TV, you have no worries.

I don't think so because it already has all of the channels you would have had on the tele if you upgraded it. Not entirely sure though.
