1: to bring to a state of peace or quiet : calm
2: to cause to subside : allay
3: pacify, conciliate; especially : to buy off (an aggressor) by concessions usually at the sacrifice of principles

Maybe i should have phrased it this way "in order to appease his desire for the smell of burnt flesh".

Adam your God is supposed to be all powerful and in charge. Why would he need to do anything other than to decide. I have never been to Law School. I do fail to see how Human ideals have much at all to do with a supposedly all powerful being though.

to murder every firstborn of some specific race.
rephrased twice:
to make sure that he gets to kill the firstborn of the egyptians, including their animals by hardening the heart of their leader.
two birds with one stone.

That one certainly wins the first place. Murdering the firstborns of the disobedient Egyptians (as someone alread pointed out) comes second. Guess what the third one is?! God's fans who refuse to take the responsibility for their actions and hide behind a poor tortured Jew just so that that very God could stand the miserable sight of them.
Disgusting.
edit: Thanks :D

A necessary evil. Necessary because of the evil in the world. It's our fault not Gods. Evil cannot exist with God. If we want to live in his presence in heaven we need to be cleansed. His Son was the only way that could happen. Being half god, half human, (born of Mary 2007 years ago) he could bridge the gap between god and man. Thats what he did. I'm sure God didnt enjoy it.

nothing. I thought the story was pretty gruesome. Especially the one about abraham. For all we know he must be some kinda insane person, thinking that people are talking to him. If someone were to do it NOW(threaten to kill their son because he thinks god wants him to), man, he'll be send straightttt to an asylum.

It is the God's divine Justice that demanded payment.
He could not forgive without a sacrifice, and no other sacrifice would do.
If you ever go to law school, you will learn a difference between what's just and what's fair.

Ummm, purposefully making the universe appear to be billions of years old, hiding all evidence of your existence then sending people you don't like to hell to suffer for eternity because they used the reason and logic you gave them to come to a conclusion you don't like?
seenotes, ABOC - all the more reason to be disgusted by your god.

Or, maybe, the only way to have an unbreakable covenant with imperfect man is for a perfect man to give all because his love for others out weighed his egotistical love of himself.

And I bet you think it would be egotistical to burn everyone who does not believe in you, right? And maybe you're right. But when judgment day comes, you'll be the one who goes to the lake of fire, while the Christians sit with God.
