How did the bottle openers in motel bathroom door frames come about?

Is their any history there? That anyone knows of?

when the pop , companies bottled the stuff, you had to pry the top off, [bottle opener] twist off caps were not invented then, and most motels had pop machines at there places,
and bottle openers in the rooms.

I wish i knew how they came about, but that is pretty darn handy if you ask me!
