my tv is a 22 inch samsung, got it about 3 years ago, and the connection doesn't work! the screen just stays black.

Did you set PS3 to an HD resolution on standard TV? You should do this - while turning it on hold power button until system'll beep (around 5-7 sec). Remember - HD works for only HD compatible TVs. They require component or HDMI 1.3a cables.

if youve connected everything right than th eproblem may arise because of the foll. reasons:
PS3 adjust to a tv if used frequently so u have to hold the power button for at least 5 sec till u sound a beep than it adjust to ur tv. this must be the reason
