I think they might subconsciously think that thinking outside of one's cultural background and giving up tradition and heritage in search for the truth (which replaces what the tradition that's lost at least 5-fold) is a difficult task and they may not have the courage to do so.

As an African American Male Atheist, I am a minority of a minority. So, it is obvious I wouldn't want to bring this upon myself unless it's something I truly wanted. Atheism is so liberating to me. I can study all different cultures and learn so much wisdom from various myths without believing in them. Life is truly more enriching this way.

The thing I lose is my heritage, the religion of the slave massa was passed down to the slaves. Ever since, Christianity has been an integral part of African American culture and it encompasses almost everything. The Church is almost the backbone of my tradition and it kind of hurts to give up that part of me for the truth.

I think they should say, "I Simply don't have enough education or common sense to be an Atheist"

That would sound a bit more accurate.

A lot of them have been misled to the point at which they think it takes a lot of faith to base one's beliefs on evidence instead of myth.

atheism is an attempt to state a person is in absolute knowledge of all there is, all there ever was, and all there ever will be....if they disagree with this...ask...how can one arbitrarily dismiss the existance of a person, place, or object, unless they are in possession of absolute knowledge?

atheism....arrogantly ignorant bliss.

And that is what we mean by "it takes faith to be an atheist"...because they are basing a lot (eternity) on a decision they obviously feel completly sufficient in knowledge in order to make.

As for Christianity being the religion of the slave massa.... does this mean the chineese man in Bejing is now following the religion of his slave massa?

It means they are afraid. It's hard to let go. Like quitting a drug that is highly addictive, they cannot imagine a free life.

Here's some bible science:

Noah's flood (never happened as described)
Rabbits chew cud
Bats are birds

Very scientific.

All of the more than 500 prophecies contained in the Bible have been fulfilled perfectly.

All of the scientific statements in the Bible are 100% accurate and contain information that the people alive during Biblical times could not have known without divine intervention.

It certainly takes more faith to not believe in the Bible than it does to believe in it.

I rather look to the Psalms at 14:1, "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.'"

I suppose they're trying to imply that atheism takes faith, just like Christianity.
