I'm using a ethernet cable that came with my modem and when i test the connection it doesn't obtain the ip adress please help.
i set everything up correctly for some reason it doesn't obtain the ip adress.

Connect the etherent to the PC then run network setup on the PC allowing other computers (ps3 ) on your network to access the internet through the PC.

THen run network setup on the ps3 see if that helps.

why can't you go get a router? anyways, if you really want to do this, you will have to turn the modem off for a few minutes. Then turn it back on. only then can you plug it in.

I had this problem too, when I hooked it directly to PS3, it didn't work. I HAD to get a router. Router (wired) with VPN support will cost you ~35$. Wi-fi is more expensive.
