Durga ma is the personification of the cosmic force. In Durga Sapthasati, she kill various demons for the protection of the devas. She being the epitome of the kundalini force, reveals herself and helps the forces congenial for the realization of the real self within us by vanquishing the evil forces within which are seeking a dominion over our consciousness. Devi is an allegory of the Real Self within; and the Cosmic Force in the Universe.

truely. we always have demonic forces and positive forces in our mind and when we surrender to the mother she kills the demonic forces in our self.
