i'm sorry cats do no longer obey, canines in case you practice them do yet no longer a cat. A cat is an autonomous animal and listens to you and could comply with do what you like yet lots of the time they do no longer. Cats do no longer comprehend language nor your speech. they do no longer talk it so they do no longer understand what you're saying. Screaming does not do any stable the two. i think of it could be superb in case you provide the cat back to the place he got here from. i think of a distinctive puppy could be greater advantageous for you. consistent with hazard a canines, chicken or different little caged hairy issues. A cat i do no longer think of so through fact cats do no longer take orders or obey. R P CAT

Cats are very trainable, there's plenty of Youtube videos showing that. You can't train them the way a dog's trained though--making a demand won't get you a response, you have to shift training to get the best response from felines, usually by making it a request.

Ours know at least 15 different words plus voice tone. Two or three things they picked up instantly. They're also very good at learning anything food related. Negative reinforcement doesn't work well with them (that's a dog technique), you need to do positive only.

My cat knows his name, but it took him about six months to figure it out. He now comes in from outdoors when called (by "kitty" or his name), but to get him to do that I rewarded that behavior with a handful of dry cat food when he came in, for several months.

With cats it's more of a negotiation than a willingness to obey orders. The cat must feel it is more of a bother to do the bad behavior than to not do it, then it will stop - at least when you're around.

You have to be very consistent and they will get the point. It may take months but they will learn. Some are more agreeable than others.

I've heard it said that you can teach a dog anything, and you can teach a cat to do anything -- while you're watching it.

We'll see if my personal theory holds true. I have a six-month old Simamese-Abyssinian mix who is verrrrrry stubborn, sweet and lovable, but stubborn. My who-knows-what mix did catch on about the dining room table after she was about nine months.

If you use food to entice them to obey, cats are trainable. But they need to be motivated by some sort of self-interest, they don't have any natural instincts to obey authority. Dogs obey orders because they're pack animals, obeying a higher ranking individual is programmed into their brains.

That is not true, Not all cats are stubborn.

You have to take a kitten from an early age, and train them

They are trainable. My friend has a cat that is trained!

They only respond when they feel like it. Cats are more independent than dogs and will only do what you say if they want to or if they can see a benefit for them.

I think it's because they are not pack animals. Their instincts are to be solo hunters/survivors, so they don't fall in line when a "dominant" animal gives them commands.

One of my cats (adopted as a kitten) knows his name -- he reacts when called (sometimes its an unconscious twitch of the tail, sometimes he will come trotting over). My other cat (adopted as an adult) does not react to any name.

It depends on the cat, how long you've had him/her. You can train a cat by giving him/her with treats/canned food when they come. Whenever i call my cats names its usually for their dinner so even if they don't know those are their names, they most certainly do come. Hope this was helpful. Merry christmas. :p

Because no one owns cats, Cats own people. They will do whatever they want and will never listen to us because they think they are superior.
