Go in to Radio Shack. We are all knowledgable about Digital Cameras and we don't work on commission. I highly recommend the GE E850 Digital Camera. 3" Digital Screen, 8 megapixel camera to provide a great snap shot of the jewlery that you're looking for. Works off of an SD card in which you may qualify to get a free 256mb card with your purchase. This is GE's first digital camera and by god they have created one of the best camera's anyone can buy. It's priced anywhere between 149 to 199. The prices changed tonight at midnight so I don't know exactly what its going for.

sounds like you only need the camera for insurance purposes. Just buy a cheap canon 3 megapixle camera, you canget one for around 100 bucks. No need to go after the belles and whilstles of the more expensive camera.

You need a camera with macro capability. You also need a tripod and, as fhotoace suggested, a "light tent" for glare-free lighting.

Note to "flying high" : GE makes washers and dryers and microwave ovens and dishwashers and stoves and refrigerators and light bulbs. They DO NOT make cameras - they simply buy cameras from the low bidder and slap "GE" on them. Canon, Sony, Olympus, Pentax, Nikon make cameras.
