I've got a christmas dinner shortly with poor, homeless, and the underprivilaged. I really wanna go ultra-casual, but should I dress up, or down?

Go ultra-casual and deck yourself out with some Chrissy decos around your neck, in your hair, pinned on your Tee. Look bright and festive... and wear your biggest smile. Don't dress up, they're more interested in your cheerfulness than what you're wearing.

Here's to you for doing that! I salute you and wish you a very happy Chrismas.

Just casual is enough. What would make you feel comfortable around them. I wouldn't worry too much about it though. Everybody knows why everybody is there. Some are there to help and some are there to accept that help. I dont think that you will stick out like a soar thumb. You will just be dressed like a caring individual. If someone has a problem with how you dress, well you just cant please everyone.

Interesting question. I think I would dress up to show that the celebration means something. I would not wear jeans. I'd wear a nice shirt and dress slacks. They don't have to be expensive, in fact, probably should not be, but you want to make the dinner more partyish.

Have a good time!

Dressing appropriately (up or down) is part of the art of dining. It very much depend on the occasion, place and company you are with.
I understand you don't want to dress up that causes unnecessary uneasiness among your company. However, it is more likely that the company you are with are looking forward to this X'mas dinner and want to feel special about it.
I would suggest to go smart casual, wear a jacket and a shirt, as a show of respect to the occasion as well as to your company. More importantly, is the warmth they feel within your heart. Be a good listener, let them tell you more about themselves would certainly go down well.
Have fun and enjoy the dinner !

I would just wear your best pair of blue jeans, good sneakers, and a button down dress shirt. They will not care either way, but it is best to be in the middle of things. If you have black jeans, they will be dressy enough too.

I'd say dress down. If you dress up you might make them feel uncomfortable. But if you wanna do something unique wear a white tshirt (under ur coat of course) and wear a red tie (unless you got a christmasy type of design). It's not only fun but casual and a little flair of dressing up. Wear jeans or khakis.

Aim for the middle, maybe jeans and a button up shirt over a tee shirt but no tie?

Don't dress up or down, just...somewhere in the middle. What you always wear perhaps, just regular.
