Ours have stockings and each has a box of bark bars, some treats, chews, each has a toy and a ball.
We'll wrap presents loosely and then let them "nose" them open. They get all giddy and excited when it's the holidays. They KNOW they have stockings and will be real excited to dig into them. They won't be allowed but a few treats of their choice and the rest of the treats will go in their treat box.
Tomorrow, they will get some turkey breast (each one of them, no skin or bones) as a "treat" with their food.
How do you celebrate?

My pitbull/whippet dog KNOWS when something is his! He has a real long tail and he wiggles it real fast, puts his ears up, and sits right away to beg for whatever I have in his stocking! He is getting treats and a giant stuffed hedgehog that squeaks .. he loves his squeakies!

Well i'm that elaborate, but i give you your props. I have a very picky shih tzu who the only "chew toys" she likes are the Dingo Brand dog chew hides. Even those she eats the meat out, and then is done with them. I don't buy them too often, so I got her quite a few for christmas. She plays with it like most dogs do chew toys. Her only real chew toy that she'll play with is a tug of war rope, so that elimnates a lot stocking stuffers. My sisters got my dog treats.

Pets don't celebrate holidays. They don't have the capacity to know one day from another holiday or not. They also don't know they have stockings. They just scent out whatever is in the stocking. You could put the stuff in a paper bag, they wouldn't know the difference. Sorry, but you are inferring too many human traits on animals that just don't have the capacity to 'celebrate' a holiday or 'know' a Christmas stocking from a bag of dog biscuits.

Usually, for the holidays, we give my dog a 10 dollar bones that you can buy on wal-mart. We also give him leftover food. We let him sleep inside- which is usually everyday in the winter.
