I love him, but it's not reciprocated that way, and am trying to be his friend. It's really hard but I do want to try.

What do I need to keep in mind so he feels comfortable. Yes, he is very much aware of my feelings.

I suppose each of us (age depending) have loved and lost. I feel it best for you to not try so hard at being his friend. You need time to get through your feelings about him. I would give it some time and later it may work out that you can be friends. That is something we can't force----Both love and friendship. Good luck.

If everything you say is true,Tocca, you're a terriffic friend.Trying to continue the friendship would be a great thing for him!Is it really the best thing for YOU right now?If I were to find out tomorrow that I was diabetic, and I asked you which pocket I should carry my lollypops in,KNOWING I'm not allowed to have them anymore, what would your' advice be?

Maybe one day,you can just look at him as a friend that you had a 'thing' with once, but you can't kid yourself into thinking your'e anywhere close to there.Don't carry lolypops around with you yet,Tocca, you'll just walk around all day wanting one.

Im going through the same dilemma however i am opposite of you. A girl who i am really good friends with likes me and after our 2 year friendship, she told me she needs a break. Your only going to get hurt because you will feel like hes leading you on.
