It originated in Germany. People used to say Gesundt Heicht. Reason why is because everytime you sneeze your heart literally stops beating (fractions of a second) to let the sneeze out. That's why people say God Bless You.

It originated during the black plage in England (where a third of the population was wiped out). One of the early symptoms of the disease was sneezing - so people wished others good luck! Also from the same time formed the rhyme, ring-o-ring-o rose, a pocket full of posies (people would carry flowers to mask the smell of decaying bodies) aatishyu aatishyu we all fall down (sneeze sneeze then we die)!

I think it originated during the Black Plague in England/Europe during the middle ages??? When people started sneezing, it usually meant they were coming down with the deadly plague, so if someone heard a sneeze, they would give them God's blessing cuz they were probably going to die!

Not sure where and when. I heard when we sneeze, there's an open window for bad spirits to possibly inflitrate our soul. So we ask God to bless us in that moment.

I've honestly heard that some people believe your soul escapes from your body, so saying "God bless you," sends it back in.
