If you bought the 40GB PS3 for $469, you would end up paying a little bit more than if you just went to the store and paid tax for it.

The tax rate where I live is 6.75% and the 40GB PS3 ($399.99) plus tax would be $426.98 where I live. So basically if your tax rate is 17% or less you will pay less than $469, and I know that there isn't a state that has a tax rate of 17%.

But to answer your question, the 40GB PS3 for $469 with no tax isn't a good deal because 40GB PS3's can be found literally everywhere. If it was last Christmas season, then almost ANY price below $800 would be good for the PS3 because they were so hard to find and were sold out everywhere in the U.S.

well, you may need a refresher course in division.

but... lets say you have total tax of 8%,

399 divided by 100, multiplied by 8, will give you the amount of tax to be added to your purchase.

this is about 32 $.

giving you a total of 431 $.

, but you should buy a new one, are guaranteed to have a full warranty, and you know it is in perfect condition.

but really.........you need to practice your mathematics.
