I would like to go into photography when I get older (Im 16 right now) and was thinking of taking some college classes for it.
I take mostly nature photography right now but would like to expand to portraits like doing weddings and things like that eventually. Anyway, do you think Im on the right track and am doing well enough that I could be a successful photographer someday? This is my site:

Ok, well I might have to disagree with the previous answers a little, not necesseraly in a bad way...
First of, let me tell you that I am not the biggest, or even just a fan of conservative photography so don't take my critique as bad as it sounds:

1) Your pictures are nice, you have a good eye for nature, but most of them are lacking in concept. I don't know if you have taken any photography classes in high school, but... there's more to it.

2)If you are serious about this, and you love doing it, which I think you do... please do take some college classes, you will be stunned at how much you will improve, I know I was.

3) Think POP!!! None of your pictures really captured my eye when I looked over those pages, you are lacking some color...
keyword being, aftereffects. Even though I see you tend to touch up a little bit in some sort of editing program, look up some tutorials on:
a) Photography Lighting
b) Photography Touch Ups in Photoshop

3) The tool makes the artist.
What are we working here with, Canon Powershot... S3?? Nice, but still pretty... I have to say, amatureish. Don't take me wrong, for 16, all of this is amazing. But still, no one really cares how old you are when they look at your photos. Start saving up some money for a really nice camera. Or next time your parents ask you what do you want for christmas, or birthday... CAMERA. Be specific on which one.

There is a lot of place for impovment and learning. As I said you are on track, and have a good eye, just lacking some principals and elements.

We have an excelent program here at the Art Institutes and I think with a creative mind such as your own, this might be the place for you, we have a few campuses accross the country, so why not give it a look.

I have to go with Rude-boi on this. Your composition and lighting are all great, but there is nothing SPECIAL about your photos. You have a great foundation, but anybody with a camera is going to think they can recreate them, and will want to put their own photos on their walls. In addition to boi's suggestions, I suggest you critically look at the photographs that DO sell and make money. Go to arts and crafts shows, and look at the photographers carefully. Even though I am a photographer, and would never buy someone else's travel photos to put on my walls (my space is limited), I totally appreciate what makes their work special. A lot of the time it is TIME. All you see is the photo of three fox kits cavorting in the snow, but when you speak to the photographer, he/she spent countless hours sitting in the snow, freezing his tootsies, watching fox kits, studying their behavior, and shooting countless "rolls of film" (of course, many don't use film anymore) waiting for that perfect shot. All you see is a bicycle leaning against a stucco wall in France, with peeling paint, and a perfect shadow of the bike against the wall, but you have no idea how many hours were spent waiting for the light to be just so. (occasionally you'll find someone who says they were just in the right place at the right time, but that's rare among pros). Consecuently, most people don't like to pay for the time that it takes to get that right shot. It can be very frustrating trying to sell your work, and hearing nothing all day, all week, but "Hmm. That's very pretty. I think I'll try to do that with my [point-and-shoot] camera," as the customer walks out the door.

Here's the sad part (for people who dream of making a living working for National Geographic or selling their nature photos at a gallery): The bulk of photography money is made photographing people. That's the truth. The real talent/skill is in lighting regular people and making them LOVE the portrait you take of them. That involves sales. Good salesmanship. being able to convince people that YOU are the best photog for their job, be it a family portrait, business portrait or special event (like weddings. LOTS of money to be made doing weddings). So, in addition to photography classes, you should probably look into some sales/business classes.

If you love people, and making people happy, then portrait photography is a great business. (Then you continue to take nature photos on your own, as a hobby, and hope to be able to amass enough images to sell at the occasional sale or gallery showing, as you're making your living doing people).

I think you are a very good photographer,
I also love photography,
and while I don't necessarily think this applies to your art,
the best advice ever given to me was
make sure you can take pictures of beautiful things and capture the essence, but more importantly capture the essence of even the ugliest things.

AT 16 I think you have a very good start in photography. There is a lot you need to learn, but desire to learn is the beginning. Join a camera club, get involved in competitions and LISTEN to the judges. If you strive to improve you will do just fine.
