It takes more than simply knowing Jesus is the Messiah to be saved; even the Evil One knows Who Christ is.
The Bible and the Catholic Church don't separate the "works of faith," preceded and caused by grace, from salvation . You can have all the faith in the world, enough to move mountains, but if you don't have charity, you are nothing.
The Catholic Church and Her Bible condemn the idea that one can work his way to Heaven on his own merit or that God "owes" a person for doing the right things.
All our works get their merit only from Jesus' sacrifice on our behalf. We can do "works" 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for the rest of our lives, but without Christ's grace, they are nothing. Works have no merit in themselves -- and faith without works is not enough. We are saved by grace alone -- a grace that we accept neither "by faith alone" nor "by works alone," but "by faith that works in charity" (Galatians 5:6).

I have no idea why a person wouldn't want to be a Catholic, because we have the best Heaven. (g) Just ask Marge Simpson.
Myths:
1. Catholics worship Mary.
2. Catholics worship the saints.
3. Catholics go around all day praying the rosary and saying Hail Marys.
4. Catholics worship the Pope.
5. Catholics pray to statues.
6. All Catholic priests are pedophiles, and no altar boy is safe.
Some Protestants (Presbyterians, Lutherans, Methodists, Baptists) believe that Catholics are not 'real' Christians because we practice infant baptism, believe in transubstantiation (belief that the communion host is literally the body of Christ), and have a priesthood that we confess sins to.
They believe these practices are unChristian because some Protestant sects, in attempting to reform Catholicism, stripped away everything from their services that was even remotely Catholic--rituals, vestments, music, holidays, everything.
Some Protestants believe that infant baptism is unBiblical. They believe that the communion host is symbolic, not literally the body of Christ, and they believe that 'real' Christians do not need a priesthood. Fundamentalists in particular believe that anything that is not in the Bible is unChristian. Since many Catholic rites, such as the sacraments, are not Biblical, they are regarded as unChristian by some Protestants.

I see them as incredibly gullible and dangerous in large numbers.
Their doctrine is (admittedly) extra biblical and (unadmittedly) borrowed from whatever pagans are handy (in Mexico the Catholics are damn near Aztecs, in Ireland Celtic superstition is still part of the church, and etc. Roman mythology has penetrated the whole structure.

I am Catholic. People say we are radicals, our church is boring, we think we're better than everyone else, we don't accept anyone, and we worship statues. I have problems with our church, but I still love it.

The evil one will have his day, tricking the unaware into hatred, and thus gaining control of souls. Click on that landover link and tell me what your heart does when you read it. It's sickening. That is the kiss of the devil.
