So a friend of mine has been smoking marijuana for 12 or so years now...and hes letting it run his life. He comes home from work just to leave and smoke 4hrs l8r he comes home just to leave 2hrs later to smoke again. He makes 550$ every friday on his paycheck but never has any money to show from it come sunday. It's been bothering me for awhile now but it's gotten worse..how can i confront him and get him to quit?

His fiancee whom hes been with for 6yrs now barely sees him [i'm suprised she tolerates what he does] marijuana always comes b4 she does, actually marijuana is his TOP priority over paying bills or what have you. I need help!!

How sad. Your mom might have more influence over him than you do. I can't imagine marrying someone with such a serious problem, especially if he isn't even trying to get better. Until he shows some effort in regards to the drug problem, I would back off if I were your mom. However, there is absolutely nothing anyone can do for him if he doesn't want to quit. Good luck to you.

Talk to your Mom. Maybe even take her to a Naranon Meeting. Naranon is a support group for the friends and family of the addict. She is probably either in denial or is too embarrassed to confront the problem.

TOUGH LOVE BABY

Good Luck

You can confront him if you choose to just remember you can only control you. You cannot make him do anything and as long as his girlfriend tolerates what he does then he is not going to change he does not see a problem. Do I think he has a problem no I know he has a problem.

he wont quit. I used to smoke, and the reason I stopped was because I wanted to. And as for the fiance thing. Dont get involved. That relationship with fizzle out if it was meant to, but you getting involved wont help. Other than that, you may want to find other friends.

if you want to remain his friend your best option would be to stay out of it. if his fiance continues to put up with it then why do you feel the need to "intervene". You cant help someone who doesnt want help

Sorry to say, he won't quit until he wants to. No matter what you say or do. Simply, he is selfish... it's emotionally draining on those who care about him.
