The book of wine suggests
blackcurranty, cab sauvignon, red loire or a light claret and beaujolais
you cant go wrong with one of these.

Also the stronger the flavor of the meat the stronger the wine should be.

Duck is a game bird so it's got a stronger taste than chicken which means you want a light red to go along with it.

I would say a Merlot, Pinot Noir or Beaujolais would suit the duck well.

While white wine is good with most poultry, a red is better with game such as duck. I'd go with a merlot.
