My bf and I are both in AFROTC. He will be commissioning this year and I will commission the year after. I was wondering if by some off chance I actually get my choice for bases if someone could help me out in knowing which base he might be likely to go to. His career field will be in space and missiles and mine will be in engineering. What bases do you suggest I put down for my wish list? Thanks for your help.

So does this mean I can request a base as late as I want as long as it is before I report in? How does this work?

All of my old officers in the USAF were assigned a base based on the needs of the USAF. My old Sq CC told me that officers don't even get to put in a dream sheet. What is not randomized is based on who you know and what your specialty is and where an officer slot is open.

Space Command Bases
20 Air Force
90 Space Wing FE Warren AFB Wyoming
91 Space Wing Minot AFB North Dakota
325 Space Wing Malmstrom AFB Montana

14 Air Force
21st Space Wing Peterson AFB Colorado
-Cheyenne Mountain
-721st ABG Clear AFB Alaska
-821st ABG Thule AFB Greenland
-Several others I cant remember

Also Space Command HQ is in Vandenburg AFB California

Most of the Missileers are in the 20 AF at the 3 bases I mentioned. They do long hours out in the field manning the Missile Alert Facilities (MAF)

You can do research to find out which bases have career openings for both fields, but there is no garuntee you will get stationed together. Unless you are married, the military will not even attempt to put you at the same base. Even if you are married, there is no garuntee, although they will do thier best to keep you within a reasonable distance (usually 100 miles or less) of one another.

Request for assignment could be considered when there are available positions as classified by the Personnel Officer.
