Here is a bunch of different polls of Congressional Democrats approval ratings:
http://www.pollingreport.com/cong_dem.htm
And here are the polls of Republicans:
http://www.pollingreport.com/cong_rep.htm
Republicans love to talk about the low approval of the new Democratic controlled Congress without mentioning that they are polling lower and it is their obstruction by breaking the 2 year filibuster record in just 1 year that is preventing the Democrats from getting anything done. What do you think about the lower approval ratings for the Republicans?

Daniel: You need to take a closer look at the poll you linked to. That poll was a Presidential approval poll, of course twice as many Republicans would approve of Bush than Democrats, DUH!

Daniel: No, you should take a closer look because it is a Presidential approval poll. The top is his overall approval, then the bottom it is broken down into Republican support of the President which of course would be near 75%, then Independent support which is 30%, then Democratic support of the President which is near 10%. Learn how to read polls before you link to them next time, okay.

It's simple, currently, republicans are statistically more corrupt. Of course, people are going to disagree with this statement, but it is simply true.
And, instead of addressing these issues, republicans simply discount the facts, trying to sweep them under the carpet. I am an independent, and my fiscal ideology mirrors that of the GOP. However, until these issues of corruption and blatant fraud are addressed, the republican party is almost dead to me.
Interestingly, I am not alone, 42% of voters name corruption as an extremely important issue when considering a candidate.
But, not only does this explain why the republicans have such low approval ratings, but also, why the dems do too. I hate being forced to vote for more democrats than I would like, and I take this hostility out on both parties.
btw, the attached article concerns the most corrupt members of congress, 18 are republicans and 4 are democrats. This in itself should explain why both parties have horrible approval ratings, yet the republicans represent the lower scoring party.
But, just because the pubs are disgraceful, does not excuse the fact that the dems are holding tight to a close second.
And lastly, if anyone can supplement information contradicting any of the attached reports, please feel free to enlighten me.

Well, I have a poll that says Republicans are two times more popular than democrats. Shows what polls know.
http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBD-TIPPPresidentialIndex.aspx
edit: Actually, you should take a closer look. It has the popularity of the President, the Senate, and the approval of Republicans overall and the approval of Democrats overall. Don't just read the headline, actually look at the poll.

Although I see what your saying in terms of the hypocrisy, remember one very important thing. Polls are complete bullS***. The numbers are chosen by the pollster depending upon how the question is presented. They have shown people giving 2 completely different answers to the same question based one how it was phrased. I wouldn't put to much faith in them.

Psssst....it's within the margin of error. Why do you insist on blaming the party out of power in Congress for the complete breakdown of the party you support and voting into power? Funny how it seems you are willing to grasp at a statistically insignificant difference to show support for a political party that I bet you can't even tell me one solid piece of policy that they believe in.

because more is expected of republicans.they are expected to produce results. Dems only have to have mass and take up space. for example geriactric patient Robert KKK Byrd and Drunkard Kennedy and Others that bearly function are lauded as leaders of the party. A pet rock can be a democrat member of congress .
