I turned 16 years old about. I'm tired of my brothers making fun of me about this, so I would like to fix it. I will point out a few things first so maybe someone can correct them. I eat mostly sugars (candy) because I never get fat. I think gummies, fruit by the foot, and gushers are good for you and count as a fruit, but I'm might be wrong. I've cut down on my soda drinking. I rarely eat fruits or vegetables. I drink more juice than water. I never drink milk. I exercise probably more than the average person, but I'm willing to work harder. I'm often outside in the sun. I bathe regularly. I don't want to spend a lot of money to get some fancy medication. I've have a few patches of acne for about 4 years. The other parts go away after a few months, but now there is increasingly more than normal for me. I don't sleep too much. On school nights I stay up to 11 or 11:30 and have to get up at 6. On weekends I go to bed at 12-1 and get up 7-8:30. I appreciate all suggestions.

Well the MOST important thing is to drink water, water water!! 8 cups a day! I know it's a lot of drinking, but you need to get hydrated. People say that milk worsens acne, but others say it helps. Since you don't drink much milk, you should try drinking it 3 times a day and see if it works for you. Yeah, and candy DOES NOT count as fruits... what were you thinking. Just because they taste fruity? They're artificial flavours and filled with bad sugar. Instead eat REAL fruits and veggies. And take a shower instead of bath. You need to SLEEP !! like at least 8-12 hours. Right now, you don't have enough. It helps a lot.
Good luck

I honestly find the simple methods, the most effective. Get a decent face wash, one that works well with your skin. Figure out what skin type you have and go from there. Wash morning and night, without fail and always remove all traces of makeup if you wear any. Get a moisturiser for day, and a night cream. Moisturise your face morning and night after cleansing. Exfoliate once a week but be gentle. Face mask once a week to a fortnight. And to use directly on spots, antibacterial creams such as sudocrem, savlon or germaline work great on spots. A dab of perfume on them (as long as the spot is not open ie from picking *dont pick!*) on the spot will also help dry it up, make it smaller and reduce redness without drying the skin around it. Just dont use much. I personally find acne treatments are far too harsh on the skin. It may get rid of acne, but your skin gets so so dry, and sometimes acne treatments have left my spots even more inflamed. It must just depend on the skin type.

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

It's good that you exercise. That's probably the best thing you can do. Wipe/blot of sweat regularly and wash your face thoroughly with some mild soap after working out. Don't scrub, pick or squeeze. don;t over-wash your face. Food does not have much to do with it... it's your sebaceous glands overproducing oil due to hormones. time well make it better. i had acne since the 4th grade till now. it's genetic. people will say mean things but just ignore them. keep playing sports and keep your self esteem and confidence high.
If you can't afford to see a dermatologist, don't buy over the counter products. Over the counter products will over dry your face. just stick to Aveeno or other mild products. also, eat oatmeal or try putting some on your face. Sports, sports ... and more sports. It's the best thing for anyone. That and a good education. Good luck. :)

I recommend avoiding foods high in fatty acids like potato chips and wash your hand often or use an antibacterial sanitizer often. The oils you collect on your hands are dangerous to the pores on your face.

Try a good scrub like St. Ives Apricot Scrub and following it with a good astringent like witch hazel or something powerful like that. It will sting a little bit but you should see a change in your skin within the week.

If all else fails, proactiv really does work. You can try that.

proactiv is not that much. it really works. also, drink more water and cut out all those sweets. eating more veggies/fruit will help clear your skin. make sure you wash your face day and night and use a washcloth to wipe away excess dirt.
you are also still 16! it happens when you are that age.

first, buy dial antibacterial soap. then buy rapid clear face cream (avalible @ wal-mart for about $6.00). wash your face thoroughly with the soap and then apply the cream immediately (3x a day, e.g., morning, afternoon, and evening). also, try to avoid touching your face too much. ttly works. try not to use proactiv. it has an active ingredient called benzoyl peroxide, which is proven to worsen skin, and it costs at least $80.00. glad to help!!!

my son has been using pine tar soap for a over three months now. it has really helped clear it up. he had it really bad. huge sores on his face, back and some on his arms and chest. you can get it thru your pharmacy. it costs about $4 a bar and a bar can last 3-4 wks. His skin is 100 percent clearer now
