I would keep the Vista. You'll get used to it before you know it. It always takes some time. I remember when XP was new. I didn't like it when I first started using it. Then a friend happened to mention that since software continues to update and technology continues to advance, that the best bet would be to just stick it out and that once you get used to it, you'll enjoy it and like it every bit as much as you did the previous version. It sounded like good advice at the time, so now I pass it on to you. Enjoy your new computer!

First of all, an OEM version IS a full version. It costs less because of the bundle deal that you get when you buy a new computer.

I would use Windows Vista so that you learn everything about it. Make a list of things that you do not believe that it can do. You see, Windows Vista IS the future. Go back ONLY to get something to work that didn't before.

But shop around. Take a look at these deals for Windows XP home or pro

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition with SP2 - Retail $194.99

Microsoft Windows XP Professional with SP2 - Retail $278.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16837116195

But contact the company that you BOUGHT that computer from about buying the OEM version. NewEgg can't offer it to you.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

there is no difference in the oem version than the full version..
except in price.. so go for the oem or download Ubuntu 7.10 Linux. it puts windows to shame. check it out on you tube. do a search for vista/ubuntu, watch all the video clips then you will see the difference of what can be done with Linux

you can run ubuntu linux from the live cd, till you get used to it.. you can't do that with windows Vista or XP... plus linux is free to download with all the software you will ever need..

If Vista was "bundled" with your PC and you remove it in order to install XP, you lose it. You may find it helpful to set Vista to "classic view" which will make it resemble XP.
