well between the old testament, and the new testament, almost everything you could possibly do is a sin.

The list of sins is infinite in the Old Testiment. You could be stoned to death for just about anything. It goes without saying that by the old laws any two people could conspire to have you stoned to death for any reason or no reason and certainly today many people behave in the same malicious way.

Sin is simply crimes against others and against God and I suppose against yourself if you go about destroying youself with drugs or self-mutilation.

It is a wonder that the human race has made it thus far. In my opinion there was no human evolution before Christ. It may have taken humans 3 billion years to evolve into the Before Christ homosapienes but it has only taken us 2,000 years to evolve to where we are now.

One man can make a difference. Jesus did.

Good Luck!

These are sins, which are called works of the flesh, which keep you out of Heaven.
Galatians 5:19  "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
5:20  Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
5:21  Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."

The Hebrew word means "to miss" (the mark)
the same word is used in another context, about a family that was very good at slinging stones, lefty! "They just couldn't miss!"... but it's the same word as "They couldn't sin".

(Judges 20:16) “Out of all this people there were seven hundred chosen men left-handed. Every one of these was a slinger of stones to a hairbreadth and would not miss.”

“Sin.” Gr., ha·mar·ti′an; Lat., pec·ca′to; J17(Heb.), ha·chet’′, from a root meaning “to miss the mark [as in spear throwing].”

Well, you have to read a good chunk of the bible. I mean, the 10 commandments give a good layout of what is a sin, but you have to look deeper. I mean, don't look right at what it is. Look outside of the box. Thou shalt not kill goes deeper than killing someone right there in front of you. It goes deeper to killing those unborn as well. (Sorry if you're pro-life or anything, but just stating a fact.) You really have to look outside of the box and what those words really mean.

Any action or thought that is in rebellion to God is a sin.
That makes for a short answer but a long list.

Hope that helps.

"The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God." Gal 5:19-21

"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." 1Cor 6:9,10

"the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars— their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur." rev 21:8

The Catholic church has a whole hierarchy of sin. Go to this link to learn more.

Other religions define it differently. See same article in Wikipedia.

There are entire books in the bible on the subject. Check out Leviticus and Deuteronomy. But you would be well advised to take them with a grain of salt.
