I think the kind of nit picking that dishonors God is when we strain at gnats and swallow camels.

The scriptures say to try the spirits to see whether they be of God or not. In a spiritual warfare, spiritual matters require spiritual discernment. Dishonor comes from the false beliefs of deceivers. To spiritually nit pick is to strive for perfection.

I don't call it nit picking, but educational discussion. I believe it is good to debate...iron sharpens iron! So I like to engage in a healthy conversation about the finer things. This will never change my belief that Jesus is the way of salvation, and is the only way!

I'd say depending on what you mean, I would either agree, or feel that NOT doing so, would be the "dishonorable" thing.
