He may be childish on some things but he gave you life, supports you, feeds you, pays your way and takes care of you. Why dont you look at the good he does for you. I bet it outweighs the things you mention here.

Did you ever think that your Dad does this to get your attention. Maybe he doesn't know how to have a relationship with you other than to tease you. My Dad did things like that also, and it was because his family never showed him any love, so he didn't really know how to show it to his children either. Believe me I learned that some times kidding is affection, depending on who is doing it. My Dad died of a massive heart attack at age 56, so love all the silly things he does, because those are the things you will have to laugh about when he isn't there.

He wants you to hide your emotions better. It's kinda like your father is 'toughening' you up for the outside world so you don't allow others to weaken you.
The fact is, when a parent does this, they ARE weakening you and forcing you do feel that the world is a kinder gentler place than at home; which also could be his way of getting you to move out the second you're 18 (y'know, making the nest uncomfortable)
Either way, get his goat right back, "Wow, I've seen beggars on the street who are more respectful than you."
hit em in the 'respect'~ might make him realize that when you show disrespect, you teach disrespect and you get disrespected.

I assume this is your Dad! Well, he wants to be cool even though it offends you. It probably makes him feel like hes a teenager all over again and is willing to suffer some criticism. He is childish, but you might want to talk with him alone and ask him why he does this when you feel so uncomfortable? Maybe hes just an attention junkie! Sounds fairly harmless!

I have 2 uncles that crack jokes constantly when I'm around them, inside jokes that no one can understand. One is in his 50's and the other is almost 50, I think. I am old enough and I love to just let loose and crack jokes, tease the kids (my wife hates it!), why? Cause people have taken things so seriously these days. Our world is angry, why can't we laugh? Laugh at ourselves, things are to stressful. My wife doesn't like to laugh, I hate it. Some people have gone through a lot of pain and had to learn to laugh to make it through. Don't be so hard on him, I know you don't understand but at least try to be friends with him. Maybe that's what he's trying to do.

He really needs to grow up. He seems very childish, and he shouldn't be doing things purposly to get on your nerves. Thats not right for a 56 year old man to be treating someone with such disrespect.

Every action has a reaction, your obviously an easy target.
Your dad probably thinks you need to lighten up a little, and get over yourself
Your at "That (I never smile) age" come back when you grow up and see what you think

Sometimes dads are like that. My brother has three kids of his own and he ascts like that to all of them, even to me. He will set on his wife, kids and fart on them and laugh likes its the funniest thing in the world. He makes jokes about his wife calls me names still. Some people just dont grow up. Try talking to him again, be serious and really tell him how you feel about it. Also, try talking to your mom about it if you still cant get through to him. Good luck.
