The US soldier is effective because he can think on his feet, Yes the old saying, Adapt, Improvise, Overcome is how they are trained. An army of robots or clones would diminish this capability

clones put real soldiers out of a job and screw up everything with training and telling them apart and most likely wont care what they do because they were bred to fight instead to live
