I usually start off treating everyone with respect as a human (being polite and cordial). Then if that person does something to gain more respect then I treat them with more respect. .if they do something to lose respect then I treat them with the respect level that I see fit.
For example, one year in school I had this teacher. The first day I walked into his classroom, I treated him with a very high level of respect because he was my teacher. I was quite, well mannered, respectful, and I was very obdeident. However as the year progressed he never actually taught. Instead, everyday he would give us worksheets and then claim that we were "talking too loudly and too much" even though we weren't. He would even start a conversation with us and then in the middle of it he would tell us to shut up and get to work. So naturally, I got sick of it and my level of respect began to slowly decrease. Eventually, he said something to the class about how we weren't doing what we were suppoe to as students (or in his mind, we weren't doing our worksheets), so I let him have it. I told him he was a sorry excuse for a teacher because he never actually taught anything. All he did was come in class everyday and give us worksheets after worksheets and then complain to us out his head hurting or how he was sick. So. .as you can see. .based on his actions and the way he treated my peers and I. .he obviously lost my respect and propper treatment.

Christ has not taught me how to treat anyone, my parents must be given the credit for that. And I treat people how I want to be treated..most times.

That's tough ... sometimes I am more forgiving, as Christ; too many other times I am treating people as they deserve.

Do unto others as they do unto you. Or something like that. Respect people for who they are and they will respect you back.
