I believe some do.....others just want the benefits and jobs and nothing else. I mean I can understand wanting a job....but not when the rest of the demands infringe on citizens and their rights. I mean if all you want is money then there's no reason to be out demanding more and expecting us to give it to you. Visitors don't tell you how how to run your home. They are thankful for the hospitality and then leave. Otherwise pay for a motel room and buy your own meals the next time you want to use me for a cheap vacation pit stop.

They may want work but we don't NEED them all. America isn't the employment department for the world......citizens have to live too and they should have first dibs at the jobs before they bring more in. Legal or illegal. Can't pay third world wages in a first world country and expect it to survive......I don't care how many you import. Giving citizenship away like nothing to people who hate it here and hate everything we are isn't a wise move either. Ya....I'm sure they'll take it if it's given to them.....but I doubt seriously many want it. They talk of take over.....not getting along.

First of all, you shouldn't judge. All of you don't know what it's like to be an illegal immigrant. All of you have had that privilege granted to you since birth. I can personally say that when I was an illegal immigrant as a child and prominently through my adolescence, all I wanted for the longest time was to be an American. I wanted to pay taxes, to drive, to go to college, and to be a proud American citizen. That wish came true after being in America for many illegal years, I finally earned my citizenship, which I worked hard for. I managed to earn exceptional grades, and now I'm enrolled in medical school. Whether or not you believe me, I strongly believe that illegals do want to become proud American citizens.

I don't believe that they do. But put that thought aside.

If we allow the illegal aliens amnesty, we will have a 2.2 trillion dollar debt to the retirement of those illegal aliens. They qualify for SS after only 15 quarter.. we qualify after many more quarters.

You hear the word amnesty, and you would be smart to say no with any vote you get.

No, I doubt very much if their thinking goes very far beyond finding a better and easier life.

I live in Mexico and know many people who have crossed the border --- most illegally. Nothing could be farther from their minds than adopting American ideals. They just want a better life.

Of course, my grandparents came to the US from Eastern Europe many years ago. I doubt if their thought processes went any further than a better life either.

So how do you judge the current group compared to the previous ones? I suspect a love of America and its ideals comes much later when you can see your life and your children's life in better perspective. How can you expect someone who has never been here to love America's ideals and way of life? They have, and always have had, more urgent immediate concerns.

No, they don't cause then they would have to pay taxes, and instead of getting deported and simply comming back they would probably end up doing serious prison time for crimes. Another thing is it is easier to get a license illegally and they don't get car insurance. For some reason they also get health care and gov. benefits of all kinds which I do not understand. They really don't want to learn english either so of course our local and federal gov. now have to provide schooling and other services bi-lingualy for people who are not supposed to be here. Does any of that make sense to you? And who do you think is paying for all of this in the long run?

No, illegals love being illegals. The second they became citizens they would actually have to make a living and support themselves. If being illegal really bothered them, they wouldn't be swarming America like cockroaches to become one.

Generally it is the 3rd generation that clings to the old culture.
The immigrants are just glad to not be starving/have someone shooting them/or both.
The second generation tends to be ashamed of the fact that their family is out of step with the main culture, parent's speak with heavy accent, etc.
The third generation is the one that is shrill about their ethnic identity. By then they have forgotten hunger and whizzing bullets.
