My dad never did his taxes this year, and I was wondering if it's too late?

This is for this past April traxes, for the 2006 work year...

Yes, just not electronically. For federal, he sounds likes he's okay--there are no penalties on refunds.

The state will charge him for penalties and interest. He can ask for a waiver of the penalties.

File his taxes tomorrow morning. However, you probably have a penalty and interest on his state return that he has to pay as well. Let's pretend the same thing happens for his 2007 taxes. Complete his taxes and if he gets a refund on one but pays on a different one then file the one that has a refund first. Once he gets his refund then file and pay the other return. Check this out early do not wait April 14, 2008 to find out.

if you father owed then 600 when he was suppose to do his taxes , the price has gone UP.. weather it is the state or the government there are 'interest and penalty's' DAILY!!.

And that is from the start of April 15 of 2006 when he was suppose to have paid them.

If he owes the state they will keep what ever he owes when he finally does his taxes. And every year after that depending on how much the price has gone up..

No, it's not too late. He can file his federal and still get his refund - he has 3 years after the original due date to file and still get it.

For state, he must file it, and will be subject to penalties for filing so late.

Yes, it's always better to file late than never.
