I had not even heard of the movie Equilibrium until you mentioned it, and I watch a lot of movies. I just looked up the movie to read more about it.

The creators of Haze probably could have borrowed some things from the movie and applied them to the game. But in the movie, the drug enhancer isn't a performance enhancing drug, it's a drug that supresses strong emotions. The drug in Haze is a performance enhancing drug that enhances some of the human senses as well as other uses.

But I do see a similarity in the story.
