My ex called to wish me a happy birthday a little bit ago and also a merry christmas. He was really sincere and even asked me how I was doing. It was nice until he said that whenever I get bored or want to talk, to just call him. Should I call him back? Now he was really nice but I have no idea if he wants me to call him or not. Lately, hes been giving me mixed signals like asking my friends about me and even asking jokingly if I've replaced him with someone else. Could someone maybe clear this up. I want to be friends with him again, but I am not sure if I should?

Well that doesn's seem like mixed signals to me! From what you say it seems like he likes you again. There's nothing wrong with being friends with an ex; actually, it's a good thing not to have a grudge against him or anything like that. If you think you might like him back, and the reason you broke up wasn't because of abuse, cheating, or disrespect, then you should go for it. If you're sure you don't like him back, or you know it's for the best that you don't date him again, you can still be friends but just make it very clear that you don't like him back, but don't be mean about it.

It means he is having second thoughts and regrets the break-up and he is feeling you out to see if you will stay in touch with him. This way he isn't risking being rejected like he would if he asked you out on a date. He is just trying to worm his way back into your life. If you like the idea go for it, if not don't contact him.... ever.

He might be thinking more about you now because of the holiday season ect.
he might want to get back with you.
but i think you should talk to him and try to be friends and if he trys nething tell him u just wanna be friends.
