The holiday season often brings people down. We see so many images of the "ideal" holiday that very few people can live up to. However since it has been more than a month, you may need to see a professional. Every one has down moments in thier lives but when you begin to think of taking your own life, you have passed the point that is safe with out help. Please remember there is help out there and that those that love you would be devastated to know you feel so helpless. Call them and share with them what you feel whether it is family or a close friend. You could have a chemical imbalance that is causing you to feel depressed. Please before you do anything - talk to someone - reach out for help just as you have on this site.

What you have described is not an abnormal reaction at this time of year. Christmas is supposed to be all about love and peace and friendship and giving but the commercial world has turned it into a merry-go-round of buy, buy, buy to excess, run up credit card debits you know you can't afford and probably won't be able to pay for, worry about whether the gifts you bought are 'good enough' etc.etc.etc. The pressure that has been put on people today takes most of the fun out of Christmas.
So -
Give yourself a Christmas present. Take a time out and go do something for someone. Go help serve dinner at a homeless shelter. Go to a home for indigent seniors, a care center, or a hospital, and read to someone who isn't able to read for themselves. Visit a shut in, or a senior who lives by himself in a lonely room.
It's amazing how 'giving' when it applies to giving of yourself and not giving something that you buy, can help fill you up.
I hope you sleep well tonight, and have a pleasant day tomorrow. Merry Christmas!

I don't know what causes it but I know the cure: Jesus' love . It'll fill you 2 over-flowing w/ all kinds of great things; love 4 Him , peace that is beyond all understanding, strength 2 go on, joy that can't help but 2 rub off on others around you, there's just no end -literally - 2 what His love can do 4 you ,all you have to do is accept it .

Christmas is depressing for many people. Feeling empty is a sign of depression or anxiety. It may simply pass. It usually does. If it lasts for months however, you should see your doctor. He will help you.

You may be suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), also known as winter depression, is an affective, or mood, disorder. Most SAD sufferers experience normal mental health throughout most of the year, but experience depressive symptoms in the winter.

Sounds more like you're too tired to enjoy life.
If you're working more, and enjoying it less,
you just might be over-extended.
See how you feel over mid-term break.
Bet'cha a nickel that if you decompress,
you'll start to enjoy life a bit more.
