Since Joseph was Jesus' father according to the Law, the answer is that both His parents were from the line of David. Joseph's lineage is traced in one Gospel, while Mary's ancestry is mentioned in another.
The reason for this is because Joseph was Christ's "legal" father, but the Jewish people trace ancestry through the mother. In order for Christ to have fulfilled the conditions to be Messiah, he had to be fully Jewish, compliant with the Law, and a descendant of David.
Since Mary is provably Jewish, both Mary and Joseph's genealogy is given, and they are both descendants of David, Jesus was 'eligible' to be the Messiah.

Mary for sure. Of course Father in heaven did not. Oh yes Joseph. I thought he did to, but I guess he just missed. Anyway they are both from Jacob.
