Whole males are more aggressive than neutered males, considerably so in some instances. There are free spay/neuter clinics in most towns and regions now. You should google "no-kill shelters" or "cat rescue groups" and the name of your region or town, see what comes up, and call them about those clinics. Feline leukemia (viral) and feline AIDS (not transmissable to humans) are epidemic among undomicled cats in many parts of the country. Both are fatal, and exchange of bodily fluids through fighting and sex cause both. Getting him fixed will calm him down and very possibly save his life. Also, a whole male tends to roam. The life expectancy of an outdoor cat is 3 years; of an indoor cat is 15 years, per the Humane Society.

So neutering makes sense.

When you call the group or shelter, see if they can recommend a low-cost vet. Your little stud needs to be tested for leukemia and AIDS, and checked for worms and ear mites as well (when you take him in, take a poop in a baggie to be tested for worms). Wouldn't hurt to get him his shots, although some pet supply stores have clinics where they give shots very inexpensively.

As long as he's become a roommate, you may as well bring him up to civilized snuff.

Good luck.

Yep it can make them mean. Also it should have seen a vet several times for shots.

I would get him to the vet to be neutered right away and start him on the kitten shots. Just because he's an adult there is no reason not to start him on the kitten shots to build immunity and then get them done every year.

Un-neutered cats will get meaner as they age, so it is not surprising he is more aggressive at two years old then he was even a year ago. Get him fixed and a vet to rule out any health problems too.

It might. It will cause a number of behavior problems, including spraying. Have your kitty neutered ASAP.

Good luck.

Yes, testosterone will make him aggressive. I highly suggest getting him neutered.

there could be more reasons than that. it could make him a little aggresive but has he ever could have been exposed to rabies or another cat, he could also have feline distemper. i would take him to the vet to be on the safe side.
