i broke up with him because he was mean to me. 2day he left a gift for me at my house and he just called me telling me happy xmas and asking me if i like the gift (which i am NOT going to open, i was planning on returning it) and then he went on talking about how he loves me still and how he wants to be with me again and how he will change and all that stuff. well anyways i do miss him alot and i do still love him but idk if we should get back together, he was crying on the phone telling me how he wants to be back with me and how he is sorry. should i forgive him? we were together for 2.5 years, what should i do? because i still do love him alot

You didn't mention what he did, so it is hard to say what you should do, and it is really your decision. If he was physically abusive, I would say no, don't bother unless he goes to counseling first. If it was something else entirely, you could give him another chance if you want to with the understanding that if he repeats his behavior you will leave for good. If you give him this kind of ultimatum be prepared to stand your ground, if you don't it just shows him that you don't mean anything you say.
