The term "atheist" is one that describes a position on the spectrum of belief. An atheist is one who does not believe in a god.

"Ignostic" is a term that deals with knowledge, as opposed to belief. Ignostics say that the question of whether a god exists or not is meaningless, and/or that the concept of "god" is one that needs to be defined before it is even considered.

Personally, I am an agnostic atheist, meaning I don't think the existence of a god can be known at this time, but without evidence of such, I don't believe. I would also have to say that I agree with part of ignosticism - the term "god" is in desperate need of a meaningful definition.

Athiests believe that thier is no religion, no heaven or hell, no nirvana, ect. Ignostics dont know what to believe. Usually they just havnt seen enough proof one way or the other to believe or not.

I'm assuming you mean atheists and agnostics.

An atheist says there is no god. An agnostic says I don't know if there is a god or not, and what's more, I don't think you can know.

But then there are those of us who say more like "Except for some rather exotic definition of the word God, I don't believe there is one." So I'm starting to call myself a NOTA. [None of the above.]

You probably mean Agnostics. Atheists do not believe in God at all. Agnostics question His existence and look for proof of it. Agnostics are open to belief if shown proof, where Atheists cannot be convinced.

Atheists believe in no deities at all. Agnostics (as it's properly spelled) believe that it's impossible to provide sufficient evidence for any deity's existence.

Atheists believe there is no God. Agnostics believe that there might be a god, but it is impossible to know for sure.
