Picasa 2 crops them, but it doesnt let me send them into another folder

you can do it in standard paint. just resize the canvas down to the area you want. and if you want to focus on a certain area, select all the image and drag it to framed size ;)

You can export any image from Picasa2 To a folder called Picasa Exports.

The Gimp sucks. I have looked at freeware photo-editors for years, and the absolute best two are Photofiltre and FastStone Image Viewer. Both are available from numerous sites as complete freeware, and are full-features with no "nags" involved. Photofiltre also has numerous freeware plug-ins available for it. If I were you, I would get them both. Check them out, I'm sure you'll love them both. I do.

It should allow you to save to any folder you like. Just hit "save as", and "create new folder", add something like "crop_size" to the file name, and "save".
