The Tybee Bomb is a 7,600 pound (3,500 kg) Mark 15 hydrogen bomb that was lost in the waters off Savannah, Georgia on February 5, 1958, near Tybee Island.
The Air Force maintains that the bomb's nuclear capsule was removed prior to its flight aboard the B-47. As noted in the Atomic Energy Commission "Form AL-569 Temporary Custodian Receipt (for maneuvers)" signed by the aircraft commander, the bomb contained a simulated 150 cap (which was made of lead), even though the Pilot claims that there was a nuclear capsule.
The Air Force maintains that it did have conventional explosives and was Uranium "rich". This would stand to reason that a dummy capsule was used for the exercises and the transport.
All this aside, Savannah is a very nice city.

Yes there was and it will not ever go off. Lost 50 years ago and Bush and Cheney are covering it up? i guess that it is such common knowledge. More then one nuclear weapon has been lost mostly during the 50's and 60's because there were bombers always flying around with them aboard; they were not armed and cannot go off.

I wouldn't worry about it, without getting too technical, nuc bombs have certain devices that are removed and will only be installed prior to actual use, the worse that could happen is a conventional explosive going off at this point.

Actually, there are up to eleven beleived to be lost and unrecovered. I saw a Discovery channel show where they showed one that was lost in North Carolina, and one in the swamps of Florida. But, who knows how many are actually "unaccounted" for.

Hey, I like how you tried hard to link it to Bush and Cheney. If it was lost in the 1950's how would Bush and Cheney be responsible for covering it up? Seriously, do you even think about what you write at all?

I saw a documentary about the bomb a short while ago, but I changed the channel before they found/didn't find it. They said it couldn't go off though. I wouldn't eat any fish caught in the area though.
