Guys tell girls that they are to good for them because they see girls at a higher standard than themselves. They judge theirself and see it as they are not good enough to make their girlfriend happy.

There can be two answers for your question. First and maybe most true is a boy may be trying to make the girl feel a bit sorry for him with the hopes of winning your total attention. Certainly dishonest but many young guys don't know how to communicate with the opposite sex.
Second answer could be quite different. It could be the guys way of trying to tell you that his history is not a good one and you really are a level (or many) above him. In spite of his attempt to be honest you need to be care full because there may be a side of his personality that is destructive or less than desirable.

The girl is too good?
I don't know. To me it sounds like a stupid way of saying "I don't want to be with you anymore."
If a guy says he's too good for his girlfriend then he's a jackass (whether he's right or not).
I don't have much experience with these things though.

Because guys sometimes do things that they know you don't deserve. They don't want to stop what they are doing. So they say that you are too good for them which translates to they are not good enough for you.

sometimes its an excuse to break up with someone and it apparently makes them sound more masculine. idky but usually its not true. some people are just @ss holes. oh...my bad, i thought you were talking about the guys saying they were too good for their gfs, lol. my bad. for the correct answer, its for self pity and attention! lol.
