Probably about the same in terms of preventable incidents per air-mile flown. Both are "reactive" agencies, ie they respond to reported incidents and try to put in place controls to prevent re-occurrences. Unfortunately they are often working against airline management who don't want to spend a brass cent on anything that doesn't increase revenue

I would find it hard to believe. The United States handles the most air traffic in the entire world. Thus the governing agency has to have stricter regulations to ensure accidents dont happen. Not only does the United States handle more commercial, but also sport pilots and military aircraft. So our Airspace is much more crowded and the FAA has to ensure that everyone is safe that is using it.

What someone has to understand is very simple. Our world travel and global aviation works together! Lets say there is an air accident in G.B. This is something all nation aviation safety Governing body will look at to in prove their own safety!

So, to ask if one works better than the other is to assume they work separate and independent of each other. The fact is they work together to make aviation the safest form of transport in the world.
