To any true Christian or any human for that matter, it is of major importance.

First, it is the only "celebration" Jesus told us to keep doing. Not his birth or his resurrection. That makes it enough reason by itself. (1Corinthians 11:20-26)

Second, it is the main reason for his coming to earth determined back at after Adam's sin for the deliverance of humankind 4,000 years before then. Only by his sacrifice could he become our "parent". It was the only way of justice. Otherwise, all we would have to look forward to would be death. There would be no afterlife, resurrection, or eternal life on a paradise earth without his sacrificing himself willingly.

Speculating now, Jesus had the power to free himself. Not being a fool, he did not jump at the chance to die. Just before he was arrested, he asked his Father for loopholes in prayer. Satan had already offered to give him any or all of the governments of the world for any act of worship to Satan. During those temptations, he indicated Jesus had power on his own beyond normal men. So he could have freed himself and conquered the Romans instead. He did not. Why?

What was most important to Jesus was honoring his Father's name as proved also in his 3 prayers before his arrest. More than any pain he went through was upholding Jehovah's good name. A fine example for us.

The Memorial of Christ's death is the ONLY holy day commanded in the Bible for Christians. It was first done as a replacement for the passover festival done only on Nisan 14, which is the day Jesus died. Luke 22:19, 20, 1 Cor. 5:8, 9.

Christmas is supposed to be his birth and Easter his resurrection. Neither have anything to do with the remembrance of his death and neither are commanded by the Bible.

Dec. 25 is the birthday of many pagan gods and involves numerous pagan customs. Easter is the name of a pagan fertility goddess whose symbols are rabbits and eggs.....

Other churches refer to the remembrance as communion and do not do it as we do. They may do it monthly or weekly or even require members to do it at each of the 3 daily meals.

I agree with Shane. Jesus said to celebrate his death not his birth and since no place in the bible does it say when Jesus was born because it is not as important we celebrate his death on Nisan 14 all around the year. next year it will be on March 22 at sundown

without his life to pay for the life of Adam when he disobeyed we would not have the hope of everlasting life.

The bible says the afterwards of a man counts not his beginnings.....
Christ Jesus was victorious over evil and now we can live forever.

Jesus commanded us to commemorate it.

It reminds us of the great value of Jesus' ransom sacrifice and Jehovah's great love fr us.

That reminder can really keep you going strong for the entire year.

It is important to us because if Jesus didn't die for us, we wouldn't have the hope of Everlasting Life in the future.

Shane - Mark 9:39, 40 - "But Jesus said: “Do not try to prevent him, for there is no one that will do a powerful work on the basis of my name that will quickly be able to revile me; for he that is not against us is for us."

Not to be picky but you can say the same with Christianty except they celebrate it twice. Once on Christmas, because a memorial on birth is a memorial on death, and the second time on Easter.
