i wa out the other night with my boyfriend and i bumped into this guy who i used to just mess around with really...we were never going out or anything
he asked me if i was going out with my boyfriend and when i said yes he said "WHAT?? you can do so much better"
I thought this was a pretty nasty thing to say but my friends said it was a compliment...what do you think?
afterwards he was all flirty with me and i think he is just trying to keep me close so he can have me whenever he likes
I dont know whether i have the wrong impression of him or am I right...what do you think??

this is tough - think back to it and remember his tone of voice.. harsh means it was bitchy.. low quiet tone means it was a compliment to you.
either way i reckon it was a mixture of both. a compliment to you that he thinks you could have better. bitchy for the fact that he thinks your boyfriend needs replacing with someone better.
sounds like he sort of wants to mess around with you again like old times. you're with your boyfriend so i guess its best to ignore him.
perhaps explain the situation to your boyfriend. i think it might be better if you tell him what's going on, so you can both me on it and you'll get his support on it.

Yes, a compliment for you and an insult for your BF. I also believe he is trying to keep the door open for himself just in case he feels like it. I say be a little weary.

He wants you... thats all. He will say anything that will make you want him more. So to him it was a compliment but I would, as well, take it as a bitchy comment.

It was both, bit*chy because I think he meant "you could do better as in dating him" and a compliment meaning your hot and your boy is not.
