Islam is to bear the witness that no god but Allah and bear a witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah
i think it so important to know there is one god

It is sad that we in the West know so little about one-sixth of the world's population that we assume that they are ignorant and that we are superior. They are not ignorant, and we are not superior to them.
Most of Islam is similar in terms of values and ethics to many forms of Christianity. In Islam, drunkenness and fornication is frowned upon. For several centuries in the Medieval period, Islam was the most advanced civilization in the world in terms of science, art, philosophy, politics...you name it.
Mystical Islam, also known as Sufism, is a tolerant and highly enlightened tradition, which many people might want to be a part of, if only they knew more facts and less propaganda.

Most Muslims are born into it, the ones who convert voluntarily are usually seeking some form of community or direction to their lives, as with any other religion.
