The Catholic church believes that Mary was taken into heaven body and soul and that she never died. I have never read in the bible about this, and was wondering if you could tell me where to find this.

I am not saying anything bad about Catholics, I was raised Catholic, although I no longer attend Catholic church. Through all the years I went to Catholic school I was taught this, and I wanted to know where they got this belief.

orita200, your brought up another question I have had. Nowhere in the Bible have I ever read that Mary was an "Immcaulate Conception". Is this biblical truth, or just Catholic teaching? Again I emphasize, I am not "Catholic bashing" but as a former Catholic I am looking for the reasoning behind their belief.

You'll never find it in the Holy Scriptures.
Think about it, if Satan were a female, what better plan then to disguise yourself as the mother of the Savior.
Then have the Catholic Church, who is ruling the world at this time, place more importance on the reverence of you then the Savior or the Father for that matter.
Think about it.

GENIUS!
Lucifer is a poetic name for the "morning star",
Venus is the "morning star"
Hm, very interesting.

The Immaculate Conception and Assumption of the Blessed Mother is rooted in Sacred Tradition.
Since the Immaculate Conception and Assumption are not explicit in Scripture, Fundamentalists conclude that the doctrines are false. Here, of course, we get into an entirely separate matter, the question of sola scriptura, or the Protestant "Bible only" theory. That would be another topic. Let it just be said that if the position of the Catholic Church is true, then the notion of sola scriptura is false. There is then no problem with the Church officially defining a doctrine which is not explicitly in Scripture, so long as it is not in contradiction to Scripture.
The Catholic Church was commissioned by Christ to teach all nations and to teach them infallibly—guided, as he promised, by the Holy Spirit until the end of the world (John 14:26, 16:13). The mere fact that the Church teaches that something is definitely true is a guarantee that it is true (cf. Matt. 28:18-20, Luke 10:16, 1 Tim. 3:15).

It's called the Assumption; it's not found in the Bible. Catholics Assume that Mary was taken into heaven.
One more thing; you may say all you want about Catholics but without them Jesus would be Just a name. It was the same sinful, wicked Catholics that compilled the bible and protected it all through History.

It is not in the Bible, bubbles, same as it is not anything against piracy, counterfeited currency, not entering illegally in the USA, threatening the USA President, driving without a license or with a suspended license, practicing Medicine without a license, voting when you are not a USA citizen, belonging to al quaida, teaching in a public school without an education certificate, taking radiographs without a license, practicing as a RN without a license
You see. None of the above is in the Bible.
Congratulations ! See how many things are not in the Bible, and therefore, you can do

Mary did die. She was given the option of ascening or dying as humans do and she chose death as a humble human saying she was not worthy to be exalted as her Son. This was of course due to her humility as a handmaiden of God. Her body however was not in her grave after her burial and it is assumed to have been taken to heaven as it has been revealed to those she has appeared to.Now will you accept this explanation? I doubt it. But we Catholics tend not to place limitations on the weal and amazing width and breadth that is Our Lord. He is immeasureably capable byeond all man's comprehension and should not be held accountable by us for any blessing or honor He bestows on one He deems worthy.

The assumption is not a biblical premise; the Church concocted this long after the fact.

Because it isn't in the Bible. Neither is the word Bible or Incarnation, sola scripture, or Trinity. Therefore, you may not believe in any of those either.

What's funny about that is, they claim to be the "preservers" of the Bible, the same Bible they reject in faith and practice.
Catholics did not give us the Bible. The Bible is from God. It is His Word eternally.
Catholics murdered anyone found owning a Bible. Even a basic reading of the Bible shows that catholicism is false. That's why they didn't want anyone reading it.
Catholicism teaches a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1:6-9).
In like fashion they have a laundry list of false doctrines and practices that have no basis in the Bible whatsoever.
