Without the Hebrew Bible (OT) there would be no Christian Bible (NT).

The Old Testament holds several good stories that hold great morals. The life of King David is an incredible story of faith along with dozens of others.
While most of the New Testament teaches us how to live, the Old tells us through stories

You can't really understand the New Testament without a good understanding of the Old Testament.
I tried reading all of Genesis and that really helped, because usually people will just quote something from the Bible without any context, so its confusing. After reading Genesis (which really isn't that long), it helped me see a better understanding of Jewish people and then how Christians came about.

The New Testament takes on a much deeper meaning with an understanding of the Old Testament.
The New can also leave you without a full understanding of what God wants for your life.

no, i disagree. i used to agree with that, but now i see it the other way around. the old testament makes the most sense to me. it has been changed the least. the new testament is the confusing part, probably because it has been changed so much.

As Romans 15:4 says, "All things written aforetime were written for our instruction. That through the comfort of the scriptures we might have hope."
2 Timothy 3:16 shows that "ALL scripture is inspired and beneficial". So wherever in the 66 books, all of it is important to us all.
Instead, try a modern translation in modern English. This will be much easier to understand.

I AM NOT GOD OR THE WORD OF GOD AS I JUST READ THE BIBLE
If I say Noah lived 350 years after the flood, Gen.9:28,29; this scripture is proof.
If I say Abraham was age 86 when Ishmael was born Gen.16:!6; and that Ishmael was age 137 when he died, Gen.25:17; then the scripture is proof of that which is being said.
It takes awhile to learn how to connect to the scripture as proof the bible said it. It is worth the effort.

The Old Testament--prophecied the coming of Christ Jesus
The Gospels--Christ is here
The book of Acts through the book of Revelation--Christ will come again
I think I do agree though that the New Testament is easier to understand than the Old Testament.

The OT can be used to show histroy, how can we learn how God deals with different people in different times in different way. God tells us today that we have to divide the scriptures which is the Word of TRuth. The whole Bible is true but all the Bible is not written to the church. 2 Timothy 2: 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Much of the bible is hard to understand, and we all need a little help. Do you attend Sunday school, or receive any form of religious education? Maybe you can ask your teacher to explain some of the more difficult passages.

They are "looking for errors" and by misunderstanding what they are reading, they turn to the OT. Don't believe much of what you read on here unless there is careful thought put into it. Much of Bible study is spent understanding all the OT and NT passages (prophecy and fulfillment) in context, so a YA answer is not going to do it, usually.
Merry Christmas!
