who you can rarely see due to finances? He is 1000 miles away, near most of the family. But I cannot afford to travel or stay in a hotel, so we see each other maybe once a year. Christmas seems to be getting sadder for both of us. Would appreciate hearing from others with the same heart ache. Thanks and blessings to all.

Due to his illness, he's not much for reading. I do send gifts and cards, also phone him which he appreciates. xo

Hi,
I am really sorry to hear about your troubles. More than likley there is a lot of people who have the same problem.
My brother suffers from depression and even today he was stopped by the police trying to jump of a bridge. Altough he lives with our mum a few miles away it is still worrying not knowing what he is up to.
Christmas can be a hard time for some, and its good that you relise that you my not be in touch as much as you would like to be.
Prehaps just telling your relitive what you have said here would make there Xmas., just to know that you are thinking about them.
All best a freind :)

Stay in touch via snail mail. Unlike the phone when you can be interupted and have amazing bills (close to that of airfare!)
A letter is still .42 cents to send, and you can take all day to write it amist all of the interruptions and firedrills and meltdowns! You can also reflect on it for a day, and perhaps retract some words you think could be misconstrued. Plus, getting a letter in the mail is so much fun. Better than bill, bill, bill, junk mail, junk mail, someone else's mail, bill, bill....oh, a hand written envelope..from Susan! Oh! I can't wait to see what she wrote!

Just outta curiosity, have you considered sending audio or video tapes? Maybe even once or twice a month (not just holidays), as time and-or budget allows? Could be kinda fun, considering the current state of affairs.

Just an idea.
