My boyfriend and I want to get away for the weekend to have some time alone. But He doesn't want to do a lot of driving, and we can't afford anything expensive. Does anyone know where we should go? We live in New York City. Thanks, Happy Holidays.

Bear Mountain State Park. It's about a 60-90 minute drive upstate, and it is beautiful there! If you go via the Palisades Parkway, the drive itself is a pleasure. Plus, if you're looking for a cheap overnight stay, the Bear Mountain Inn costs around $90 a night for a very basic room. There is an expensive restaurant in the Inn itself, but there is also a stand that sells cheap eats like hot dogs and burgers. (Just check to see if it is open in the winter months. I know it is open in the summer!) You could always pack a cooler with food to take with you to keep the cost down! The view from the top of the mountain is beautiful, as is the rest of the scenery. In addition, there are a lot of places to visit that are nearby, such as Woodbury Commons Outlet Mall, and West Point.

Greenport is nice, the motels aren't too high, and it's just a while past Riverhead. Call ahead first, caus it's mostly a summer town. Philly's not far, and fast once you get thru the Lincoln/Holland. New Haven, Conn. is a nice town.

Well you can go sight seeing for free...Go to Rockafeller Center and skate at night (Its romantic)...Have one of those horse drawn carriages take you around the city then end at Times Square with dinner Applebees or something....Hope this helped :)
